Women Lead to Peace Summit for Syria – Monteaux, Switzerland. 20-22nd January, 2014. Mairead Maguire’s remarks at peace summit on Tuesday 2lst January, 2014. Dear friends, The people of Syria are crying out for peace and they have a right to peace, and all other rights. As the human family we have developed many individual and collective rights. As a pre-requisite for many of these rights, is the right to peace. In article 28 of the UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human rights) it states ‘everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this declaration can be fully realized.’ They also have the right not to be tortured, or killed or brutalized and made refugees from their own homes and country.…

A Man Of Peace – Michael Woods

As we come to the end of another year we would like to remember our esteemed member Michael Woods who sadly died on the 8th of September. Michael will be deeply missed by all members of the Peace People and his contribution to Peace will always be remembered. We will miss his humour and a serious mind inspired by Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights movement in America. He devoted most of his life to Peace and always had the bravery of his convictions.
