Programme:

10:00 – 11:30 First Session: Welcome to Palestine and a brief history.

This session will introduce participants to the land, culture, economics and geography of Palestine and Israel before going on to outline the two narratives underpinning the Conflict.

This session aims to introduce participants to the reality that the region is more than the Conflict while at the same time introducing some key perspectives that will enable understanding for the people on either side.

11:50 – 1:30 Second Session: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Case Studies from Palestine.

This session will introduce participants to the purposes, values and obligations of human rights and through a series of case studies seek to show how human rights can be employed as a tool for interpretation and a means for activism.

2:30 – 3:30 Third Session: Case Study: The Ecumenical Accompaniers Programme for Palestine and Israel – Human Rights in Action.

This session aims to illustrate the work of a human rights group and illuminate the reality of life under occupation.

Facilitator: Máiréad Collins (Belfast) / Barbara Walshe (Dublin)

3:50 – 5:00 Final Session: Campaigning and Activism.

This final session will look at activities participants can take to realise human rights and implement conflict resolution.
