Condolences to families of those killed and injured in Norway

THE PEACE PEOPLE ARE SHOCKED AND SADDENED BY NEWS FROM NORWAY

CONDOLENCES TO FAMILIES OF THOSE KILLED AND INJURED IN TWO VIOLENT ATTACKS ON NORWEGIAN PEOPLE SPEAKING IN BELFAST TODAY, NOBEL PEACE LAUREATE, HON. PRESIDENT PEACE PEOPLE MAIREAD MAGUIRE SAID:

‘The Peace People in Northern Ireland are shocked to hear of the two violent Attacks in Norway, taking the lives of 7 people in Oslo, City Centre, and 92 (Mostly young) people in Utoya Island. The Peace People have deep and long standing links and personal friendships with the people of Norway, who since l976 have stood in solidarity with all those working for an end to violence and For peaceful resolution of conflict in Northern Ireland. It is therefore deeply sad for us to hear of the violence that has struck your Citizens, mostly youth, and so cruelly cut short their young lives.

On behalf of everyone in the Peace People, and your many friends in Northern Ireland, and with the deepest sadness we send to the families and friends of all those killed in the Oslo bomb attack and Utoya Island attack, on 22.7.20ll, our prayers and condolences. For all those who have been injured we pray for their strength and recovery.

To Prime Minister, Jens Stoltenberg, and the people of Norway, we stand with you in solidarity, during this terrible tragedy and suffering inflicted on so many Norwegian families. Your pain is shared by the human family and we can only Pray for you all, and be with you all in love and compassion, in these painful days of sorrow and sadness.
