Mairead Maguire has called for Aung San Suu Kyi to acknowledge and condemn the genocide committed by the Burmese army against the Rohingya people.

Mairead Maguire, was on Al-Jazeera's Inside Story yesterday to discuss what she has witnessed as a part of the Nobel Women Delegation 2018, in partnership with Naripokkho  - Standing with #RohingyaWomen Mairead Maguire has called for Aung San Suu Kyi to acknowledge and condemn the genocide committed by the Burmese army against the Rohingya people. "This is gang rape, murder, torture - a genocidal policy to destroy a whole people. This is what this is about. Today, Standing with #RohingyaWomen: Nobel Women Delegation 2018, visited the Thyankhali refugee camp near Cox's Bazar. Mairead Maguire & Ann Patterson from the Peace People heard from Rohingya women in the women's spaces in the camp. There were many stories of violence, murder, and rape at the hands of the Myanmar army - but also the resilience of the Rohingya people as they fled from genocide. Nobel Peace laureates Mairead Maguire and Tawakkol Karman visit the Kutupalong refugee camp

Nobel Peace laureates Mairead Maguire and Tawakkol Karman were incredibly moved after their visit to the Kutupalong refugee camp yesterday. Watch as they appeal to the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council, that the Burmese army be brought in front of the International Criminal Court. STANDING WITH ROHINGYA WOMEN: THREE PEACE LAUREATES IN BANGLADESH

On the sixth-month anniversary of the latest cycle of military violence in Burma (Myanmar), Nobel Peace Laureates Shirin Ebadi (Iran), Tawakkol Karman (Yemen), and Mairead Maguire (Northern Ireland), are traveling to Bangladesh to assess first-hand the situation of the Rohingya refugees and the violence against the Rohingya women—including high levels of sexual violence. The delegation will visit refugee camps near the Bangladesh-Burma border, and also meet with Bangladeshi Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina Wazed. Working in partnership with Bangladeshi women’s organization Naripokkho, the Laureates will also learn from the experiences of Bangladeshi women’s organizations working to end the horrific violence against Rohingya women, and advance women’s rights and build peace in the country and across the region.
