For more than thirty years the Peace People have worked tirelessly to create a better world and a more just society.
The situation and circumstances have changed, but the need to promote peace and non-violence throughout the world remains as vital as ever.

What do the PEACE PEOPLE do?
Current Projects
• The United Nations Decade for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for the Children of the World
• Lobbying for a Minister with responsibility for Peace within the Northern Ireland Executive
• A visit to Northern Ireland by a group of Israeli and Palestinian peace activists.
Global Issues
• Attention to World issues of Peace and Nonviolence led by Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Nobel Peace Laureate

What could a school chapter of Peace People International do?

1. Perform a local act to encourage peace where there is antagonism (this could range from some form of community service to addressing a problem such as bullying of an individual or minority group)

2. Encourage some act or project or programme for peace in the education of young people (possibly a cross-community project with another group or an article in a local newspaper )

3. Contribute to an act of reconciliation in our own country or on the international scene (support for an individual or group which suffers from oppression)

4. Meet regularly to discuss the core elements of Peace and Nonviolence, Identity, Culture, Religion, Politics, Sectarianism, Human Rights and Disarmament Projects, Justice, Conflict Resolution

5. Try to involve some new members.

6. Encourage the creation of another Chapter for Peace.

7. Raise some funds for a Peace Project of your choice.

(The Peace People is a voluntary organisation totally dependent upon donations and subscriptions)
