Do YOU support PEACE?
Do YOU support NONVIOLENCE?
Would YOU help to make PEACE
by
starting / joining a branch of
THE PEACE PEOPLE
on your campus?
We have a simple message of the world from this movement for peace.
We want to live and love and build a just and peaceful society.
We want for our children, as we want for ourselves, our lives at
home, at work, and at play to be lives of joy and peace.
We recognise that to build such a society demands dedication, hard
work and courage.
We recognise that there are many problems in our society which
are a source of conflict and violence.
We recognise that every bullet fired and every exploding bomb
makes that work more difficult.
We reject the use of the bomb and the bullet and all the techniques
of violence.
We dedicate ourselves to working with our neighbours, near and far, day
in and day out, to build that peaceful society in which the tragedies
we have known are a bad memory and a continuing warning.
Many people contact the Peace People offering their assistance on a short-term basis. Some are students from overseas taking a course of study at one of our universities, some are on a 'gap year' between periods of study, some are doing research projects, and some are simply wanting to make a positive contribution to a better world.
We welcome volunteers who accept and support the principles of our manifesto, and will always endeavour to provide opportunities to serve the community in which we live, to enable you to make use of your particular talents and skills, and also to widen and enrich your own experience.
As a charitable and voluntary organisation we are not in a position to support or subsidise volunteers. Prospective volunteers must therefore be able to finance their own living expenses while they are here, and be able to justify their presence in terms of particular skills and abilities which they might offer.
We can only accept a limited number of volunteers at any one time. It is important to contact us in advance, indicating the approximate time, duration and nature of the help you would like to offer.
