Visit to Mount Lourdes Convent School Enniskillen
In February a presentation was given to 160 senior students
in Enniskillen.
Four ten-minute modules were delivered describing some current
aspects of Peace People activities - the recent visit by youth
workers from Israel and Palestine; bullying at home, in schools
and in the workplace; working for a Minister for Peace; and
the Peace People International Project.
After each module there was an opportunity for the members
of the audience to consider the issues raised and to give
their initial responses.
Many parallels were drawn with lessons to be learnt from
‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and the potential impact
of the experience upon the future lives of the young stars.
Thoughts and questions left with the audience to ponder on
a future occasion included
- ‘you don’t make peace with your friends; you
make peace with your enemies’
- ‘violence is a curable disease’
- Are you being bullied?
- Do you know someone who is?
- What can you do about it?
- Should there be a Minister for Peace?
- If so, what would the Minister for Peace do?
- Would you be willing to create a chapter in the Book of
Peace?
